type='text'>Life Rules

Key: Life is never fair. And for those, who sit back and think it is, they are fools. For those, who try to make life fair for others, they are only hurting those they provide well being. For life is a journey and a fight. not a destination.

These words are from experience and not from someone wanting to hear theirself talk or something read from a book to sound pretty. Some of these are originals and others are plagerism, but found to be true. Eitherway, they make sense as life guidelines. I hope you enjoy.

Children

- Don't drug your child, because someone is too incompetent to deal with your child's differences.
- Remember, there is a big difference between a father and a dad. A father is a position. A dad is there to help.
- Love your children continuously, but don't baby them. Prepare them for what they will have to deal with in the future. And, yes, prepare them for the bad times too.
- Remember, you cannot be there all of the time for your children, so you teach them to be prepared when you're not there.
- Whether someone believes in abortion or not, it is the stopping of human life. Let your concious be you guide.
- Children listen to your parents no matter how it pains you. You will find their experience has great worth.

Education

- Never pass up an opportunity to learn.
- The person who refuses knowledge is an idiot.
- Whether admitted or denied, everyone learns something everyday.

Employment

- Remember, employment is business. Anytime money is exchanged for a service or product it is not personal. Therefore, keep in mind everything you do either helps or hurts you.
- Remember, if you have to sue your past employer to get them to see the light, you are not being mean. Everyone needs enlightenment in their life whether good or bad.
- Remember, where one door closes another door opens.
- Choose a profession you want not what is predetermined for you.
- Remember, if you work for someone and they do not promote you within 3 years, they have no intention of promoting you. Find another job. Even through common employee departure (i.e. retirement or voluntary or involuntary separation), 3 years is an acceptable time frame for any promotion.
- If your employer does not reward you with a raise within a year, go find another job. Even through basic GDP growth 2-3% increases are needed.
- If your employer offers you a salaried position, ensure the amount of money and benefits offered to you will compensate you and your family well in your absense.
- When going to a new job, try to give a two weeks notice to your soon to be ex-employer. If you cannot, and don't think you will be coming back to the job just leave. Your employer wouldn't give you a two weeks notice, if they fired you. Remember, business is business your job should never be personal.
- Don't worry about whose feelings you hurt leaving one job for another career opportunity. If your employer wanted you bad enough, your employer would have offered you a better or equal job, pay and/or benefits.
- Remember, no one ever got rich from working for someone else. This is the absolute truth.
- Don't be afraid to call your boss on the carpet. If he/she is working in the same direction you are, your comments will be understood. If he/she is not working toward the same goal in the work place, then his/her ego will arise and you will be fired or reprimanded. If he/she let's you go, then your boss's mind is not on the job and consider yourself lucky, he/she admitted it by letting you go.
- Your comfort level is what you make it in the work place. But do not become complacent.
- Bending the rules at work is acceptable as long as you are producing. Those, who bend the rules at work and are not producing will be let go at a given time.
- Make sure your job is just that "a job". A job is a means to something. A job is business. Businesses close, families don't. If your job is not a means to something for you or your family, then leave.
- At your job be yourself, if you are afraid of offending a co-worker, then your job has turned into slavery. Slavery is not a job.
- Slavery (defined) - The attempted or actual limiting or denying a persons rights through lack of pay, promotions, happiness and/or common human functions.
- Remember, employers could care less about your problems. Employers care about business. Employers care about making money. They wouldn't be in business otherwise. This is where your pay check comes from.
- Make yourself irreplaceable, but still promotable.
- Ensure when you do a job, you do it better than everyone else. If you don't, you will be replaced.
- No one ever liked a bean counter. Bean counters only know numbers, they may have a limited basic idea of business operations. These are not "Go-to" people.
- No one ever sustained a career by pointing fingers. Finger pointers may have succeeded in the past by putting blame on others, but sooner or later their deficiencies will surface.
- No one ever achieved greatness without a great team.
- Remember, work friends are usually along for the ride. There are exceptions, though.
- If your employer does not promote you within 3 years, they never intended to promote you in the first place. Quit and find another job.
- If you are employed by the same employer, consider yourself lucky. No one keeps a job with the same employer to retire anymore.

Family and Friends

- Choose your friends wisely. Some who claim to be friends are only along for the ride. True friends will show they care through their actions.
- Remember, Family comes first and friends come second. All others can wait in line.

Financial

- Never buy anything on credit unless you have 50% of the purchase price as a down payment.
- Remember, rich people are good people. It's the arrogant ones that make the rest look bad.
- Remember, if you're poor, alive, a roof over your head and have some place to sleep, you are doing better than some.
- Save all the money you can while you're young. You'll need it when you are older.
- Don't buy small stupid things. it's a waste of money that could be used on large meaningful things when you are older.
- Don't be greedy, but don't let someone steal your money with some lame sale either.
- Don't let idiots pressure you into spending your money. If they want to spend money, they can spend theirs.
- Don't lend money to family members. Give them the money instead. Whether they bring it back is a lessson learned.
- invest into a 401K or IRA early in life. Put 5% of your incoming money into the account and leave it alone until you retire. You will be happy during retirement.
- Never buy a new car. The car will depreciate 10-25% by the time you drive it off of the dealer's parking lot.
- Never buy a used car until you have it checked out by a true mechanic. $100 spent right now may save you thousands of dollars later.
- Never trade in a vehicle to a dealership. They will take your vehicle, add charges to hide the fact they took your vehicle and sell you another vehicle for the price they wanted in the first place.
- People born into wealth often do not have respect for where their wealth came from.
- Arrogance and wealth are a bad combination.

General

- If something looks too good to be true, 95% of the time it is.
- Only believe 50% of what you see and none of what you hear. People lie. It's a fact of life.
- Never trust what a salesman says. They're liars by profession.
- Remember, true politicians, lawyers, doctors, bankers and thieves all have two common understandings; Greed and deception. There are no differences in the professions.
- Never accept the word "No" from someone, who does not have the authority to tell you "No". Usually, people who use the word "No" are incompetent or severely ego driven.
- Remember, all men and women are created equal. Some would lke to think they are better than others by lying to theirself, then they lie to you through words and actions.
- Remember, if we were all the same, life would be boring.
- Remember, the "Peter Principle" is alive and runs through all aspects of life. For some incompetence and nepitism is the key to their success.
- Remember, nothing on this Earth lasts forever except for a single cell.
- Do not be disappointed, when you try to recreate the past and the result is not the same. Life goes on.
- Listen to those who have went before you. Their knowledge is golden. Learning from their mistakes will help you not to repeat history.
- Remember, everyone has a supervisor whether personal or professional or God himself. No one is their own boss regardless whether they believe it.
- Remember, a conquered people live at the mercy of those people, who have conquered them. Do not live like this. You may be conquered and not know it.
- Die with honor, not embarrassment.
- Never mentally put someone on a level higher than someone else. God is in Heaven. He is the only true God.
- Remember, that everything is relative. What you do today affects tomorrow's outcome.
- Remember, comtemporary ethics do not always fall in line with good morale decision making. Ethics is what is acceptable in the publics eye. Good morales rests with a persons knowledge of what is right and wrong regardless of public opinion.
- Life does not end at the hands of another human being. Life ends, when you surrender your human life.
- Be accountable for your decisions and learn to make better decisions. Life knowledge is the key.
- Contrary to popular belief the only thing you have to do in life is live and die. Everything else is what you want to do.
- The path to ignorance is paved with arrogance.
- The path to hell is paved with good intentions. Don't sit back, do something.
- Remember, there is a difference between ignorance and stupidity. An ignorant act is done out of a lack of knowledge. A stupid act is done with the knowledge to do better or the right thing, but there is a failure to do the right thing.
- The definition of insanity: Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. It appears stupidity and insanity run parallel.
- Playing just by the rules is not smart. People will know what your plan is. Bend the rules as much as you can and act like what you are doing is normal.
- Face it! Sometimes you just can't work miracles! Only God can. Don't beat yourself up about it.
- Empathy is not sympathy. Empathy comes from people, who have been in your shoes and want to help.
- Regardless of whether it's cool, always be courteous. Remember, everything is relative. What goes around comes around.
- True respect is not earned while you're at the top. True respect is earned on the road to success.
- Remember, all things must come to an end.
- Always in life have a plan B. A good majority of plan A's aren't that well thought out and usually modified or abandoned.
- Life is too short to put things off till tomorrow.
- Sometimes, when others say, "Wait till....." they really mean, "Hey, let me control you." don't let someone control what you do in life.
- Remember, people are as old as they want to be.
- Life is not a fairy tale or ensure you make the best of it by doing good things for others before you die.
- Laugh whenever.
- Don't hold a grudge from a bad incident. Just learn a lesson and go on with life.
- No human on Earth has the right to judge another human on Earth; Only to treat everyone as a friend or brother. Sadly, this seems to be lost in today's society.

Leadership

- Remember, in life, if you are in a position of leadership, don't abuse it. You can be replaced just as quickly as the person or persons you abused.
- Everyone has someone to answer to. If you are in a position of leadership and believe you do not have a supervisor you are a fool.
- Leaders are only given power by the people they supervise.
- Remember, earned respect has more weight than given respect.

Legal

- Before ever signing a contract ensure a lawyer reviews it. Never sign a contract without knowing all of the details of the agreement.
- Remember, what is legal may not always be right. You have to decide what is right.

Military Life

- Let me be the first to say thank you to all that have served in the United States Military at one time or another.
- Spend at least an hour a year at a military cemetary. You'll realize where your freedom comes from.
- Shake the hand of a military veteran. For every veteran's hand you shake, there are at least 10 who died to ensure he or she came back alive.

Relationships

- Men should not marry till after age 30. Boys do not become men till then.
- A spouse should not attempt to change a spouse, you got what you married. If you had doubts in the beginning, you should have never gotten married. Accept it and move on.

Religion

- Everyone needs something to believe in. I don't care who you are.
- Those who do not believe there is a higher power, they are fools.
- A religion becomes a cult, when the acts of members become morally wrong.
- Believing in God is not a weakness, but a strength.
- I can't remember a person in someway, who hasn't looked for God in the end.

Mr. Obama Makes Public Approval of Mosque at 9/11 Ground Zero

And to think Mr. Obama whole heartedly supports this religion and to blatantly disgrace and demoralize our country by supporting the placement of a Muslim mosque at ground zero for 9/11/2001. I do not believe any true American can understand this as anything other than a serious problem. God, please watch over our country.

In the United States military, I served commanded by 3 Presidents: Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. During that time and after no matter how ugly the President had acted I never spoke against the Office of the President. And I will never speak against the Office itself. But the actions of the current person, who was foolishly elected to that office has clearly spoke out in radical fashion against everything this country was shaped.

Sadly, I was one of those voters, who was fooled by the man I believed would do the right thing.

Oddly, I believe Jimmy Carter said it well, "This man's an idiot."

  var _gaq = _gaq || [];  _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'UA-12682308-4']);  _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']);  (function() {    var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true;    ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? And what's illegal is not always wrong." In the past 10-12 years I have began to realize what these two Great Men said was true.

You see these two men lead simple lives. One was disabled due to injuries from World War II and the other was disabled from being pushed in front of a train in the "L" in Chicago after a shift as a Security Officer during the Chicago riots in 1968. But they still believed in patriotism and standing for what you believe in regardless of what was popular.

They also, preached the difference between right and wrong. And to them the difference included the act and intent of the persons involved.

I, myself have spent 23 years in law enforcement and security. I have always looked at my job, as some still do, as looking out for those, who cannot protect themselves. Often I tried to settle situations through talking. I even disarmed a man by just talking to him. Sadly, I found he had been killed in a drive by shooting in Nashville.

During my 23 years on both sides of the line I have seen many wrong spirited acts committed by law enforcement members, prosecutors, judges, defense attorneys and criminals.

I have seen law enforcement officer co-workers arrest an old man, who's only fun after working 60 hours a week was to visit the neighborhood pub. They arrested the old man for being drunk in public just for walking from his neighborhood bar to his home 2 blocks away. I have seen prosecutors vengefully prosecute someone and get outrageous sentences just, so they can get that promotion they have wanted. I have seen attorneys, who are supposed to be in an honorable position, chase ambulances and file suits with no basis against poor farmers and the elderly and win just to get their commission. I have seen blatant violent criminals, who law enforcement has collected overwhelming evidence, be exonerated of any wrong doing just because the judge felt he or she was doing a good deed for the day.

And sadly, in all of these situations, the person who was entrusted to act honorably abused their powers given to them by the people. They not only abused their powers entrusted to them, but arrogantly gloated the about the fact.

The people in our legal system have ran away from the concept of being honorable. Being honorable means doing the right thing all of the time. Sadly, self-serving public officials are not central to one city in the United States, but is widely recognized across the United States as business as usual.

Often I am asked, "How did we get to this point?" And through actually, sitting down and taking a look at this, I keep coming back to the concept; One concept that is so simple and so disregarded that it would baffle some. The simple lost concept is we as a nation have lost our ability to make good moral decisions.

Persons in public/powerful positions are not the only ones guilty of this. We are all responsible for the way things are today. Often times when someone would commit a wrong (not a crime) we have the opportunity to do the right thing, but we failed to follow through. We failed to correct an incorrect morale decision. We not only failed some around us, but we failed the entire United States population. I am a firm believer that everything is relative regardless how small or how big the act or inaction.

Judges, lawyers, police officers, senators, representatives, governors, sheriffs, mayors and presidents are all charged with the job of leadership. Being honorable is the reason why we are supposed to elect and appoint people to these positions. They are supposed to have good moral fiber. But, within the past 12 to 15 years the people assigned or elected to these positions are looking for personal gain rather than doing the right thing.

Good moral decision making is established or not established early in everyone's life. Its is based on the examples set by the people around the person and the people the person chooses to follow later on in life. If a persons leaders are self-serving, then the person following will consider being self-serving at a greater level than they would having an honorable person as a leader. It has been forgotten by many that peoples paths are made within the first 15 years of their life. During a persons first 15 years, they are creating a base of morals they will use for the rest of their life. In other words, the only way you can make good morale decisions on your own is to have the knowledge to do so. While someone is growing from infant to adult human being, the people around the person help the person build their moral decision making process. If early in life the person is taught divorce is not a big deal, then from that time forward the person will consider divorce easier than attempting to work the details out, if presented with a complicated marital issue.

I remember, when I was as small as our youngest daughter, I was always in a church for Sunday services, Wednesday night services, revivals and vacation bible school. And it did not matter the church's denomination. I have been to Church of Christ, Catholic Church, Baptist Church, Methodist and Pentecostal. I find it funny how they bicker between faiths, because they all have one mission with 2 beliefs: 1) They believe there is a God, 2) One day, if they believe, they will go to Heaven to be with God. This is a blessing in itself.

One thing thing I caught in a Baptist ministers sermon though that has stuck with me forever after. The Baptist minister's first name was John and he would have barn burner sermons. And one thing that impressed me was, he did not worry about stepping on any ones toes with his sermons. He even stated many times over the years, "I can feel I have offended someone here today." Knowing what I knew about some and seeing facial expressions in the congregation, I could only smile as I thought, "Yeah, you probably did."

One day Brother John had another barn burner that lasted a half hour past his usual time for releasing the congregation. He was on fire. he was a thin man and was sweating in 68 degree air conditioning. The gist of the sermon was mans laws versus God's Laws. At the end of his sermon before the prayer he calmed down and said, as if, God was speaking through him, "You as Christians have a decision to make...As men make laws to govern each other, then as Christians you have to make a decision whether mans law corresponds with Gods Law. I hope you remember, who is the higher authority."

He inspired me on 3 occasions to read the King James version of the Bible. I am the type of person, who is intrigued by reviewing something I am told for correctness. The only explanation I have for this is I have noticed through the years that people in my past and will in the future stretch the truth, so I have to find the truth for myself. After reading the Bible for the third time I came to the conclusion that the message from the Bible is clear. When I was a child, if someone told me this, I would have told them they needed to read it again. There is a big difference between right and wrong. And the difference rests within someone's heart.

Wow! 55 chapters and I don't know how many versus summed up in 1 sentence. I can't really say that, because the Bible is loaded with circumstantial right and wrong decision making situations. I believe these situations were collected in chapter and verse to bring people to an awakening of what is right and wrong.

People in leadership, power wielding positions, must realize they must make decisions based on whether in their heart it is better for the people they govern. Sadly, it still witnessed being honorable is not a consideration for public office.
